Since Covid, in 2021, I have enhanced my art career to
include 11X14 inch colored pencil drawings of birds local to
Western Massachusetts and have
built up quite a collection.
Several illustrations show them perched on plants
native
to the area such as cranberry and maple.
When I began the process,
I made a couple drawings and
looked at them and thought, well, they're good
but there is
no style to them like I see in other illustrations. I made
two
or three more and realized that, in fact, I do have a style
and my style
is making the drawings as perfect a representation
of the real life bird as possible
and with as much detail and
natural color as possible. So detailed, in fact, that in addition
to them being exceptional art that they could be used
for identification of that species.
